The automotive field is an interesting nieche for semiconductors. The designs used here can be similar to hand-held or datacenter designs but critically must fulfill strict safety (and of course also security - i did not focus on these but nowadays cars are basically computers on wheels with similar threat-vectors) requirements. Furthermore also reliability is critical. Cars are oftentimes designed to last much longer in the field (thank god!) than other electronics. Think about 15 years. Your device you are reading this on most likely will not be used by you in 15 years (unfortunatly). Anyways these were the topics I focused on in the talk with the Students of Kumaraguru College of Technologies.
